Punks, practical jokes and pranks have been around since as long as anyone can remember. But thanks to the dawn of the internet – especially YouTube – pranks have got even more popular than they ever were before.

And it’s not just a case of a quick game of knock-a-door-run or something involving TP anymore, either. Some pranks are elaborate masterpieces with one key goal in mind: scare the living crap out of the recipient.

Whether it be faking a zombie apocalypse, dressing up as a killer clown or pretending to be a crazed psychopath, YouTube has some ultimately scary pranks. We love to watch them but we’re so glad we’re not at the receiving end.
